Our club meetings are
held the second Monday of the month year round. They are held at
the Camp Withycomb military base on 10101 SE
Clackamas Rd in Clackamas Oregon at 7:00 PM. For
driving directions to Camp Withycomb from your location please click on
the Yahoo Maps button below.
The club membership fees are $55.00 for adults. A.M.A.
(Academy of Model Aeronautics) insurance is also required to fly at our
fields. It is an additional $48.00 for adults and less for students and
seniors. They can be checked out at
Academy of Model
Aeronautics.
The club membership provides our members with a field in which to fly our
planes from, and instructors to teach new members. We are a non-profit
organization and our aim is to promote the sport of Radio Control Airplane
flying. The Academy of Model Aeronautics is the governing body in the
United States and provides us with guidelines and liability insurance if
we should have an accident.
Our membership dues cover the cost of renting and maintaining the field
and providing members with a monthly newsletter. The club also hosts
special events during the year including fun flies, flight demonstrations,
contests, tours and shows. For those who don't know how to fly yet, our
club provides instructors to teach new members how to fly. The instruction
program starts in early May and continues to September. All summer there
are at least two instructors at the field every Tuesday evening weather permitting.
Our year 2001 membership finished the year with over 100 members. The
outlook for year 2002 is very good! Guests are welcome at our meetings and
at our flying field located in Boring Oregon on Orient Drive just off
Route 26.
